NextGen Bar Exam Format & Structure Explained
The NextGen UBE is a 9-hour exam over 1.5 days with three identical 3-hour sessions. Each session: ~40 standalone MCQs, 2 integrated question sets, 1 performance task. Scoring: MCQs 49%, integrated sets 21%, performance tasks 30%. Scores reported on 500-750 scale. The exam is fully digital on NCBE's secure platform. Integrated question sets are the major new format — multi-document fact patterns with mixed question types testing cross-issue analysis. Time management is critical: roughly 60-80 minutes for MCQs, 40-50 minutes for integrated sets, 60-75 minutes for the performance task per session.
